Waiting for Delivery Time, Do It

Waiting for labor may make pregnant women feel scared, anxious, and nervous. Instead of thinking about things that can stress you out, it's better to keep yourself busy doing useful activities while waiting for the time to give birth. The moment of giving birth to every woman is different and unpredictable. There are easy and fast processes, but some are taking more time. Instead of dizziness and stress, imagine what your birthing process will be like, you better prepare yourself to welcome your little angel who will soon be born.

This can be done before the day of birth

Waiting for labor might burden you. Therefore, you are encouraged to fill the time with a variety of positive and fun things to the following:

1. Get plenty of rest

Before you give birth it's good you start increasing the rest time. Enough sleep during pregnancy is not only beneficial for the mother and fetus, but can also help your labor later. When you have given birth, you will be busy taking care and breastfeeding your child. Sleep deprivation during pregnancy is associated with a number of pregnancy complications, such as preeclampsia and gestational diabetes. This condition can result in babies born prematurely or underweight. So, start to sleep at night a few hours early and set aside time for a nap, even if just lying on the couch. When pregnant, you need quality sleep for 7-9 hours every night.

2. Prepare food stock

When you have given birth, you may be overwhelmed when you have to cook and deal with work in the kitchen. Therefore, while waiting for delivery and not yet busy, let's cook some food that can be quickly served later. You can cook these foods in large quantities as a supply as long as you are still a new mother. For example you can cover chicken, then store it in the freezer. Later when you want to be served, you only need to fry the chicken. Fill your fridge with some snacks that can be quickly eaten when you don't have time to eat, like yogurt, biscuits, or chocolate. Believe me, you will find it very helpful thanks to these preparations.

3. Start cleaning the house

Going home neat and clean after a hard struggle in the delivery room or hospital can certainly make the mind much calmer compared to arriving at a messy house. But calm, this stress factor can still be prevented. Of course, you don't need to do heavy household chores. Do only light, safe work done by pregnant women. If you feel tired and can't take it anymore, don't force it. You can ask for help to your spouse or family to complete the work. If possible and indeed necessary, you can pay for the services of a household assistant to clean your house.

4. Re-practice the techniques for launching labor

To launch labor, you still have to move actively. While waiting for that day to arrive, you can practice your own pregnancy exercises that you have learned in labor preparation classes. In addition to pregnancy exercises, yoga for pregnant women and breathing exercises you can also do to help smooth labor. While practicing these movements, you can imagine yourself doing the technique in the delivery room. However, make sure the exercise or physical activity that you do is safe and has been consulted with your obstetrician.

5. Double-check the contents of your bag

Come on, check the bag that you will bring to the maternity home. Make sure the items you, your partner, and your baby need while in the maternity home are inside.

6. Have fun

Use this time to pamper yourself because maybe you do not have time to do it after giving birth. Go to a salon or spa to relax and beautify yourself, watch a movie, hang out with friends, or do other things that can make you happy.

7. Buy baby clothes and equipment

After giving birth, you will certainly be tired and inconvenienced taking care of your child and must undergo postpartum recovery. Therefore, while still having time and strength, start buying baby clothes and equipment while waiting for delivery time. If you are lazy to leave the house, you can buy equipment and baby clothes from an online store. While waiting for the time of delivery, be aware of the emergence of certain complaints, such as a lot of discharge or bleeding from the vagina, pain in the lower back or abdomen, and the contractions that appear more and more frequent and strong. If you feel the complaint, immediately consult a gynecologist.
